Nobody cares about you 🔦
Casey Neistat is probably best known for being one of the earliest adopters of “daily vlogging”.
(He held an impressive streak of 534 days in a row.)
|
And during that period of his content creation, he shared everything.
All of the imperfections of daily life were laid bare for the world to see.
Now...
For many of us - including me - the idea of doing that ourselves is terrifying.
We fear being judged, ridiculed, or criticized.
But most of that fear is actually based on a false assumption:
We think we’re more important to others than we actually are.
In fact…
This feeling is so common that there’s actually a term for it: the “Spotlight Effect”.
In a recent interview with Casey, he noted:
“Nobody cares about you. Everybody is so focused on themselves in this world, nobody has time for you. And the sooner you accept that as a creative person, the sooner you’re free.”
See how freeing this idea can be?
Once you realize people don't care about what you do as much as you think they did, you’re free to create without restriction.
- No more censoring your ideas.
- No more dulling down your opinions.
- No more erasing imperfections.
So...
This week, I challenge you to create something with this in mind.
Ask yourself:
“How can I be more honest in the things I create and share with others?”
Give it a try - I promise the world won't fall apart when you do. 😉
