How to make artistic/biz growth feel more fun
👋 Welcome back to the newsletter!
Every week, I share a few things I think you'll like to keep you creatively inspired and successful in your artistic pursuits.
Let's jump in. 🚀
🌱 How to Grow Effortlessly as a Composer & Entrepreneur
I dropped this video a few weeks back as a culmination of some of my reflections over the last 6 months in my own art/business and through my work with members of my Pro Group:
|
We often think that "effort" as an artist and/or entrepreneur means doing things we DON'T want to do in order to achieve things we DO want.
But I've begun noticing that when we think that way, we often don't show up to do the work for long enough to see results.
So what's the solution?
In this video, I try and tackle the subject in multiple parts, covering:
- 🧠 The mindset that sustains effort over time
- ⚖️ Optimizing for extrinsic results vs. intrinsic reward
- 🔼 The time/money/passion triangle
- 🐣 Reconnecting with your childhood
- 📵 Removing distractions and creating space
- 🧘 Letting go of trying to "control" your growth
If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend it - and if you have, it might be worth a re-watch.
❤️ Instinct Over Intellect
When actor Cilian Murphy was asked what advice he'd give his 20-year-old self, he responded:
“Believe your instincts. Instinct, instinct, instinct, always instinct over intellect. Just because you can rationalize something doesn't make it right. If you feel it, then it’s right.”
Intuition isn't just some intangible feeling or mystical hunch about something.
It's a deeper understanding of something that we can't yet wrap our intellectual brain around.
Which is why Cilian's quote is so important to keep in mind as you move through not just your artistry and entrepreneurial journey, but your life as a whole.
Always trust your instincts - don't "logic" your way out of them.
📣 Shoutout to My Coaches & Mentors
Mentorship has been one of the most influential things I've participated in - both as a student and teacher - over the last twelve months.
It's helped me to achieve some massive transformation in every aspect of my life, as well as adoprt new habits and mindsets that have continued to stick in my daily life.
So I wanted to take a moment to give a personal shout-out to three select mentors I've worked with who have helped shape those transformations.
🧠 Rich Webster - Lifestyle Business Coaching
This guy has had a huge impact on the changes I made in my life through 2024 - leaving additional music, creating the Bootcamp, opening the Pro Group, and many other things. He's both an incredibly kind person and has a knack for getting to the heart of his clients' challenges to determine the quickest points of leverage to fix them. I could go on about this dude forever, but he's the man.
❤️ Jason from HGCoaching - Mental Health Coaching
I've always been a fan of Dr. K, so joining Healthy Gamer Coaching felt like the next natural step to work on my mindset and habits in my life and business. I've worked with Jason for over half a year, and his patience and gentle direction has opened up many powerful insights about who I am and what I can let go of to move forward in my life.
💪 Paul Zambrano - Personal Trainer
A few months back, I started working with Paul to complete what I saw as my "coaching trifecta" - business health, mental health, and now physical health. Paul helped me to lose 10 pounds, run a sub-40 5k, and integrate conscious eating and regular exercise into my routine. I'm grateful for him showing me just how much I'm capable of physically when I put my mind - and muscle - to it.
If you want to make massive change in your life in 2025, do yourself a favor and invest in mentorship from someone you trust. You can't even begin to imagine the kinds of internal and external changes you can achieve.
