🐉 Scoring Dragonheir: Silent Gods

Dec 05, 2023

For the last few months, I’ve been hard at work with my friend Weijun Chen composing music for SGRA’s mobile game Dragonheir: Silent Gods!

The studio has been wonderful to work with, offering lots of creative freedom and many opportunities for having our music recorded by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.

(If you want to skip to two of my tracks, check out 5:34 and 12:12.)

The most interesting part about scoring to games is that often you’re NOT scoring to picture, working instead with a text-based brief and some rough imagery.

The pro of that is it invites imagination and creativity that’s not bound to picture

The con is that it can be easy to fall into modular, loop-heavy music if you’re not careful. ❌

If you have questions about this gig, or the scoring process of games, reply to this email and I’ll write some more about it!
